Cousins!

We had a wonderful first Christmas with Harper. She was more interactive than I thought she would be. She was interested in pulling off the paper and curious to see what was inside.
Jamie and I both bought her gifts, but didn't tell the other what we were getting, so when we opened gifts, I opened the ones he got Harper and he opened the ones I got her. It was a lot of fun. Harper kept trying to put everything in her mouth. She was very cute to watch with all of the fun new toys.

Haper is 6 Months Old!

Our little Harper turned 6 months old this month. She has grown so much!
She is sitting up well now on her own, and is even sitting up herself from laying down. She's not crawling yet, but we think she's close. No teeth yet. Next week we are going to food other than cereal. She's totally ready for more foods. When we feed her cereal she grabs at the spoon.
She's been saying "mum" for a while, but only when she's in distress. My Christmas present was that she is saying "mum" and "mama" when she's not upset or hungry. Over the weekend she was saying "mama" quite a bit, it was so cute! We got a little video of it.
She's getting way more interactive with her toys and really honing her motor skills. She got a lot of fun learning toys for Christmas, including a couple to help her to get crawling. We hope to report next month that she's crawling (no pressure Harper).

Merry Christmas &

Happy New Year!

Snow Day

Today it snowed all day (and is still snowing...we have a blizzard warning in effect tomorrow...supposed to get about 15 inches...). Luckily it was a day off of work for me, so Harper and I decided to start to decorate the Christmas tree, watch the snow fall outside and bake up some chocolate chip cookies. It was one of those "mom moments" for me. Could it get any more perfect? A snowy day outside, the pine smell of a Christmas tree, baking cookies with my little girl? I called my mom to tell her about my "moment" and she was baking chocolate chip cookies too!
Harper and I had fun. She decided to help out. She started grabbing utensils next to her. She pulled out a couple spatulas, then got a wooden spoon. She started waving it all around, hitting the window behind her, the mixer, and luckily didn't hit herself. I decided to exchange her wooden spoon with a plastic one.

Bath Time

Harper LOVES bath time. The latest thing is me holding her like below so she can splish splash with her arms. Normally she's laying back and kicking with her feet. Jamie threw her little ducky in the tub with her tonight and she was playing with it a bit. She was picking it up, which was cute, then she tried to bite it. It was pretty funny watching her bend over and stick the duck in her mouth (bath time is right before her feeding). Pretty soon I think she'll be ready for more play time during bath time.

More "talking"...Harper tries to say "Mama"

Jamie has been trying to get Harper to say "mama" for quite a while now.
She's starting to look like she's trying to say it. It's pretty cute. She sometimes looks like she is saying it with her mouth (no noise). We just have so much fun with her. It seems like every day there's something new!

Harper Trying to Talk

Sorry for the weird angle of this...I was trying to be sneaky, because I had kept trying to get video of her "talking", but as soon as she would see the camera, she would get quiet. These are some of the new noises she has been making.
