Mommy's Big Girl

Harper had her 4 month check up on Tuesday. She got her shots and took them like a champ. During the exam they found an ear infection, so she is on antibiotics now. She had an allergic reaction to the first one, so now we're on the next antibiotic, but she is doing better already.
Harper is apparently the size of a 6 month old. She is 26 3/4 inches long (97% percentile) and weighs 15 lbs 9 oz (90% percentile). What a big girl! No wonder she has been hulking out of her sleepers! It seems like she skipped right through her 3-6 month clothes, on to 6 month clothes!

Happy Birthday Aunt Miranda!

Harper's Aunt Miranda turned 21 on Friday, October 16th, so we all went out to celebrate. Harper put on her partying outfit and we hit the casino! Well, we all ate there; Harper and I left and Jamie stayed with everyone else to gamble.

New Developments

Harper seems to have developed so much in the last couple weeks. She started a new day care where they were putting her in a exersaucer, which we didn't know she was ready for. So we got her jumparoo out last week, and she is loving it. She can almost reach the floor.
The other day I needed to let the dogs out, so I put Harper in her bouncy chair and set her rattle on her lap. From the kitchen I heard rattling. She had picked up her rattle and was shaking it like a champ.
Now when she is on her play mat she grabs her hanging toys with both hands and kicks them with her feet.
She pushes herself up when she's on her stomach, and holds her head up real well.
She's also started rolling over from her back to her stomach. Hopefully she'll be crawling by Christmas!

Happy Birthday Great-Grandpa Wahl!

Last Sunday we did a day trip to Minnesota for Harper's Great-Grandpa Wahl's 80th birthday. Harper did great the whole trip, especially for as much as she was in her car seat. It was a fun time, and Harper got to see all of her Wahl relatives, including her Great-Great-Grandma Smith.

Puppy Bear

Harper has a new friend. It's a stuffed, real soft puppy she got from Grandma & Grandppa Ortyl when she was in the hospital. He has little dimples, just like Harper. I have named it puppy bear...Jamie calls it T-Dog (for teddy dog)...Harper loves snuggling with her new friend when she's sleepy, it helps her fall asleep.

The latest with Harper

Harper is starting a new day care next week. The last place we had her turned out to be a bad fit. The gal quit on us Sunday night at 7pm, and subsequently got a little nasty with us, so we are so glad Harper is out of there. We were able to get her into a daycare center. It seems to have good energy and I hope she will do well there.

Harper is getting so big! We weighed her tonight and she was 14 lbs 10 oz and 24 1/2" long. She hasn't been as chatty lately but has been studying things a lot more, especially her hands.

Pumpkin Patch

Last Sunday we went to the pumpkin patch. We didn't stay too long because when we got out there it was a little chilly and windy. We didn't go out to the field to pick our pumpkins this year, but we'll be out there next year when Harper is a little bigger. We had a fun time picking out pumpkins and taking some pictures, and also munching on some yummy kettle corn. Hopefully we can hit the pumpkin patch in St Louis if we're down there this month (GO CARDS!)

Daddy dressed me...

Isla of Des Moines

Jamie and I were on a panel for a post-partum class a couple weeks ago; this is where there is a panel of new parents and talk about their experiences to soon-to-be parents..we were once the soon-to-be parents, and now we were the new parents talking about our experience. It was pretty fun. What was even more fun, was that the parents next to us had a little girl named Isla, the same name as Harper's cousin in Denver! I couldn't believe we ran into another Isla, so I had to take a picture of their name tag and of her.
